I found this movie on Rotten Tomatoes top 50 scariest movies of all time, so I had to check it out. Peeping Tom was filmed in 1960. In order to watch this movie, you must first step back and remember that horror films were significantly different in the old days. Once you have done this, the movie is quite enjoyable. Our main character, Mark Lewis, is a deranged voyeur that enjoys filming women as he kills them. He is making a documentary on fear. This all stems from a tragic childhood where Mark serves as the subject of his father’s psychological experiments.
I’ll admit, this movie was pretty entertaining. I really enjoyed the play on voyeurism. It’s as if, as the audience, we too are voyeurs watching Mark’s life. By today’s standards, this would never be classified as horror, but it was a fun psychological thriller. Although, when it first came out, it was pulled from the theatres. I’d say this movie is worth at least one watch.
