Rumors

The Rumors are true!If you’re looking for great food and a great time, you need look no further than Rumors in Louisville, Kentucky. This place has been around since my childhood and I’ve eaten there as long. Rumors was established because the owner was tired of looking for chicken wings and seafood in the same place and not being able to find it. That’s right, I said chicken wings and seafood all on one reasonably priced menu!

Atmosphere:

The atmosphere at Rumors in extremely laidback. There is plenty of seating inside and some outside but if you go on a Friday or Saturday be prepared for a 20-30 minute wait. It’s normally not as long as they say because these folks have been doing this for a long time and they know what they’re doing. Dress is very casual but shoes are required.
Ladies: Shorts, sundresses, capris
Fella’s: Shorts, T-shirts, polos, jeans

Menu:

DIVERSE! Everything I’ve ever had at Rumors has been delicious. I typically get The Six Pack which is 6 buffalo chicken wings and a side (I prefer the curly fries, because come on, it’s curly fries). Rumors has some of the best chicken wings I’ve ever tasted, and this girl loves wings. I ALWAYS start with the fried pickles. The use sandwich spears instead of full spears or chips. They are incredible! Of course it’s hard not to get some fresh oysters on the halfshell. You can get a dozen or a half. Rumors also has great gumbo and Poboy sandwiches. If you are up for sharing a meal I love the Dreamer Steamer Bowl. It is more than enough food for 2. It includes 1/2 lb. each of three of your favorites…crablegs, peel-n-eat shrimp, & mussels steamed together in New England spices with new potatoes & corn on the cob.
Served with parm toast, drawn butter, & lemons. With 2 houses salads……29.99. I had to include the price because that is a lot of food for a great price. Rumors signature adult beverage is the Rumor Boomer (shot of beer with a raw oyster and cocktail sauce floating inside), but they have a full drink list that includes wine, beer, and specialty drinks.

Price:

Each individual dinner will cost between $8-$15 not including a beverage. Appetizers run between $6-$10.

Overall:

Rumors is well priced and their food is always consistent. When I go there I know the flavor of my favorite dish will taste the same as it did last time which is a plus in my book. The staff is friendly, attentive, and the establishment is very clean despite the age of the building. All in all I would highly recommend hitting this hidden gem if you’re ever in the neighborhood.
