Just wow! I was expecting a horror filled, blood saturated flick when I read the description of this movie. However, Guillermo Del Toro never ceases to amaze. Instead of blood and guts, I got to spend the evening with creepy kids, mediums, psychological pain, and well, some blood. This was by far one of the best movies I have seen in awhile. It’s about a woman who relocates her family to her childhood home in order to open up an orphanage for handicapped children. Before long, her son starts communicating with a friend no one else can see. FYI, the friend is kind of on the creepy side. This movie ended up taking me for an unexpected ride on the “what’s gonna happen next” train. I loved everything about this one. Guillermo does it again.
(BTW: it’s in Spanish, so read the subtitles)
