Caramel apples have been a long time Halloween favorite. This is a slightly different take on your favorite, gooey treat. Right out of the Witch’s cauldron, this recipe is from Cosmopolitan.com. A fun, but messy, recipe that is great for kids and Twilight fans alike!
Ingredients:
Apples (your choice but sweeter is better)
Jolly Ranchers Candy
Edible Glitter
Candy Apple Sticks
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Put the Jolly Rancher candies (use only one color at a time, I’m not sure how the flavors would mix) in a pan that could go in the oven (make sure the handle on your pan is safe to bake in the oven). If your candy doesn’t start to melt after 5 minutes up the oven to 350 degrees. Check regularly to make sure it isn’t overcooking (will probably take 10-15 minutes). If the candy is hard to lift when you are testing it, you need to bake it longer. It should be the consistency of syrup.
Once your consistency is correct pull it from the oven and immediately add the edible glitter, stir and dip apple. Be very careful not to touch the handle. Let the apples dry on a glass plate that has been sprayed with cooking spray. If candy starts to get hard in the pan, put back in the oven until syrup consistency returns.
